GAS WELDING (NON GEN TECH WS TRADESMEN)

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

Provides training in oxy-acetylene welding, cutting, brazing and hard soldering for tradesmen (and women), who are not from the Gen mech/tech WS trade. The training covers the limitations of their welding authorization and prepares them for a variety of ground use, non critical, general engineering welding tasks.

DURATION:

4 weeks.

NOMINATION PROCEDURE

All RAF nominations through PMA 6B(2). Non-RAF personnel through Business Development Officer

ELIGIBILITY

Gen tech GSE and MT Tech tradesmen (or women) who are selected by PMA to carry out non-critical gas welding tasks at remote locations where no qualified welder is established.

AIM

To train selected engineering trademen (other than Gen mech/tech WS tradesmen) to a standard where they can safely and competently braze, hard solder, cut and weld metals using oxy-acetylene welding equipment.
