ADVANCED TURNING

Course No 2296

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

Provides airmen in the trade of General Technician Workshops (Gen Tech WS) or civilian equivalents with the knowledge, skills, procedures and practices of Turning to a standard where they can work competently and safely on Centre Lathe machines to perform advanced precision turning tasks. Trade Qualification Annotation (TQA) Q-GE-TA will be awarded to those who successfully complete this course.

9 weeks 3 days.

NOMINATION PROCEDURE

All RAF nominations through PMA 6B(1). Non-RAF through Business Development Officer

ELIGIBILITY

Gen Tech WS tradesmen or civilian equivalents selected by PMA prior to employment on advanced turning operations, but after gaining at least 6 months practical experience of basic turning procedures.

AIM

To train personnel to a standard where they can safely and competently set up and operate centre lathes to perform machining tasks on general and aircraft components, including those that require the application of advanced techniques.
