What do we do ?

We are primarily responsible for:

  • The training of Airframe and Electrical Aircraft Battle Damage Repair
    (ABDR) Assessors as well as ABDR Instructors.
  • Liaison visits to RAF Stations to assess ABDR Instructors and to deliver
    Officer appreciation courses in ABDR.
  • Research and Development of ABDR techniques especially in:
    • Carbon Fibre composite materials
    • Fibre Optic repairs
    • Alternative materials and tools
  • Assisting aircraft manufacturers technical publications departments with the
    compilation of ABDR manuals

Our additional responsibilities include:

  • Acting as ABDR evaluators on operational assessments and evaluations
  • Providing representative battle damaged structures for evaluations
  • Training Commonwealth and other foreign nations in ABDR

Our reputation for first class training has been enhanced when we delivered a
complete ABDR Instructors course to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF)
in Williamtown Australia and assisted in the formation of the RAAF ABDR School.
