Distance

Once a postcode has been geo-coded and converted into a pair of co-ordinates the straight-line distance between those two points can then be calculated. Also buffers can be created around the points and then used to select objects of interest within those buffers.

The map above shows buffers around the city of Coventry at 5Km intervals. These could be used to determine the population within each buffer, the number of schools within each buffer, in fact anything that can be positioned in the map or has a postcode.

This technique is similar to the one used in Apogee's specialist DTT products to calculate the DTT coverage around retailer locations. Click here for more details.
