CHRIS MCDONAGH MMVI

Prior to Pre Completion Testing being carried out, the following points need to be addressed:

• Windows are complete, with locks in place and closeable.
• Window trickle vents are in place or temporarily blocked up for testing.
• Room and front doors are in place and closeable.
• Power sockets on party walls are in place if appropriate.
• All wall surfaces in rooms to be tested are complete.
• Floor and Ceiling surfaces are complete.
• Cornice and skirting boards are in place.
• Carpets or timber laminates have not been laid in rooms where floors are to be tested.
• Power sockets are live or other 240V power supply is available close by.
• Smoke alarm detectors must not 'bleep' during tests.
• Rooms to be tested must be clear of building materials etc.
• Site staff are made aware that no noise will be permitted during testing.

If the above list is satisfied you can be confident that your building is compliant with standard testing procedures and that the tests will be completed with minimum disruption or delay.

SOUND INSULATION TESTING

Approved Document E (ADE) 2003 specifies standards for the sound insulation of walls and floors in a house, flat or rooms for residential purposes.

The Building Regulations Approved Document E specify that "the person carrying out the building work should arrange for sound insulation testing to be carried out by a test body with appropriate third party accreditation".

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has agreed that the Association of Noise Consultants are approved to be such an accreditation body.

Acoustics and Noise Limited are an accredited test body approved by the Association of Noise Consultants and are fully equipped to carry out Airborne and Impact noise resistance tests as per BS EN ISO 140 and Schedule E of the Building Regulations and to provide rating of the sound insulation as per BS EN ISO 717.

Acoustics and Noise Limited can provide design advice to help you through the pitfalls awaiting the unwary in ADE 2003 and can advise on any remedial work required following a failed test.

Please contact us for a competitive quote for Pre-Completion Testing (Sound Insulation Tests) as per Approved Document E 2003.
