higher landfill and
mineral taxes, environmental legislation and increasing ecological
and customer pressure, there is a real push from waste producing
industries to develop alternative markets for their by-products.

There is also an increasing willingness to accept
by-products as alternative raw materials (ARM's), particularly
where they can be accepted to replace virgin raw materials and
where "gate fees" are becoming financially attractive.

By developing industrial symbiosis
networks within and between industry sectors, Akristos are developing
ecological and economic "win-win" solutions. Akristos
