Text Box: ‘A simple Christmas gift’

As the Christmas season once again comes upon us, I wonder how much you are allocating for Christmas gift shopping this year. It seems to me that the price we are expected to pay for gifts goes up each year, and while we can blame inflation to a certain extent, mostly it comes down to people’s heightened expectations – particularly the young, of course, whose demands seem rarely to be satisfied.
Our Christmas appeal in Bethany this year has focused on collecting and filling ‘Shoe Boxes’ for distribution amongst poorer children in Eastern Europe and Africa. It is mostly simple and practical items which we MessengerTheText Box: Bethany Baptist Church

Text Box: This particular Messenger is all end and beginning.
It covers the end of one year and the beginning of the next. It is my last Messenger as Editor and a new beginning for a new Editor (see page 6).
Most importantly, it marks the end of a very special year in the life of Bethany, and the beginning of the next phase in the life of this resilient and dedicated church family.
