European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)

This is administrated by the British Computer Society (BCS).

ECDL is an internationally recognised end user computer qualification. The key benefits to the individual are that it:

  • Improves your productivity at home & work
  • Requires no prior knowledge of IT or computer skills
  • Provides you with an industry recognised qualification
  • Raises your level of competency in IT & computer skills

There are 7 modules to complete and pass to achieve a full ECDL qualification.

Each candidate requires a logbook for recording which modules the candidate has passed. When the logbook is completed it is returned to the BCS and a certificate is issued. The test is run live over the Internet and the results will be shown at the end of each test.

Candidates can take the test without having to take the course if they feel they meet the criteria as set down in the syllabuses.

Candidates can take a diagnostic test before taking the actual exam. This gives the candidate an idea of what to expect in the actual exam.
