Gainsborough

Gainsborough is a Market Town in the North West of Lincolnshire. It falls within West Lindsey District Council. Gainsborough has its own town council and is continuing with the trend of developing the town as an important place to do business. As certain types of industry have declined Gainsborough keeps regenerating to meet current market trends.

Throughout the History of Gainsborough it had been invaded, fought over, bombed and yet is still an important link for trade and housing. The river link for trade has given way to road and rail but there are plans afoot to regenerate the river life by creating a marina, most of the riverside mills have been transformed in to accommodation and further building is still going on.

If you are coming to Gainsborough to work there are plenty of opportunities, with industrial centres on the outskirts of the town been expanded. There is also a new retail development brining more jobs and opportunities to the town.

For leisure activities there should be an activity to suit most tastes, Gainsborough Golf Club is highly recommended for its facilities and course. Gainsborough has several Amateur Dramatic and Operatic clubs which go to festivals all over the country. Football Leagues for all age groups. Tennis clubs, Gamers LAN and other clubs to numerous to mention.

There is a Grammar school which was originally founded by Queen Elizabeth in 1589. The building has changed over the years but it prides it's self on its academic achievements. Junior schools have also met with current Government ratings. Gainsborough is within 30 minutes travel of Lincoln University , and 45 minutes from Hull and Sheffield Universities .
