Membership
The library likes to show groups of prospective members around before application, and holds frequent open events for this purpose. Please check our Events page for details of the next one.
We charge of £5.00 per head for these events, refundable against library membership. The event lasts about 90 minutes and includes a talk about the library and house plus a tour of the building. Membership forms are given out at the end of your visit.Tickets to be purchased in advance at the library, no telephone or email bookings please. When you apply, we will ask for the names of two referees (they do not have to be library members), so if you wish to fill an application form in at the time of your visit, please bring these names and addresses with you. On your first visit we will also ask for one form of identification.
New members are formally admitted on a monthly basis, which is usually on the first Wednesday of each month.
The annual membership subscription, due in April each year, is £75. Anyone joining later in the year pays a reduced subscription. Membership (apart from Student membership) covers resident family, as well as the person named on the application form. Student membership and country membership(50 miles from Nottingham) are also available at £40.00. We also offer reference facilities on a short term basis to researchers. Advance notice is required plus a letter of introduction from supervisor or tutor; please contact us by phone or e mail.
Gift membership is available too; please contact the library for more details. Gift membership packs available for £5.00 deductable against the cost of the membership when taken out. We do require recipients of a gift pack to visit the library for a tour after which they will recieve a membership form on which we ask for two referees. Membership is activated after we hear from both referees and will normally be on the first Wednesday of the month.
Please note that the Library is on the first floor and above of a Listed Building and has no disabled access.
