Bullock Fair Charity Shop is situated in the vibrant and picturesque small market town of Harleston in South Norfolk. We were established in 1999 by the late Alec Garrard as an independent limited company GWN Ltd. which donates all profits to local charity. The expected aim was to give approximately £10,000 annually to local charities, within nine years the target was exceeded ten fold due to the phenomenal support of local people and visitors to the area.
The three main charities supported are ‘The East Anglian Air Ambulance’, ‘All Hallows Hospital’ at Ditchingham, near Bungay and ‘EACH’ (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices). The present directors of GWN, Sally Wilkinson, Brenda Basham, Ros Panter and Jan Mead strive to match or better the previous year’s total. To help there are over forty members of staff some paid to maintain continuity but mainly volunteers. They are an incredible group of people without whose help sorting, pricing and selling the donations raising this amount of money would not be possible.
Bullock Fair Charity Shop started as one small shop and has grown to two shops situated alongside each other, one with clothes and bric-a-brac and the other selling books, CDs, records, cassettes and small electrical items (radios, toasters, table lamps etc.) In an annex we call ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ we have household items and small furniture (coffee tables, bedside cabinets, standard lamps and pushchairs etc.)
