About the Club ...
Craignish boat club is based in Ardfern, Argyll, Scotland. This is an area of the spectacular natural beauty, where otters and seals are common close inshore, and whales, porpoises and dolphins are often seen further out. Sailing is one of the main reasons for living here!
The Club site is located at Loch Craignish lagoon and has a slipway and space to keep dinghies and canoes. Over the years it has become increasingly active as membership has grown.
The Club owns several dinghies, including Optimists, Toppers, Picos, a Laser and a Wayfarer, plus canoes and 2 rescue boats. There are currently an RYA Coach, Senior Instructor and several dinghy instructors, we also have one canoe instructor and a number of qualified rescue boat operators in the Club. We have a fleet of privately-owned Lasers and Flying Fifteens, plus cruisers, many of which are moored in the lagoon.
Monday evenings during the summer are set aside for junior sailing and between April and September. Those children who become ready to move on to some more challenging sailing can join the adults on Wednesday evenings or, later in the season, Sunday afternoons. These sessions involve a series of informal races. The Flying Fifteen fleet in particular provides a great way for all ages of learner members to gain experience sailing with a competent helmsman, either as crew or as helm under direction. Sunday afternoon mid-season is also a focus for informal, but more adventurous outings in Loch Craignish, Loch Crinan and the Sound of Jura. Please look at our events page for full details of this year's programme.
