Wednesday Night Laser Series 27/07/2006

A big thanks to Ali and Guy for organising proceedings after I was called away at short notice.  In a break with tradition, this week's series results will be a combined result from all the evening's races.  Given the light conditions and no Picos or Darts, it was standard Lasers all round so no handicaps required. Thanks also to Guy for submitting the race report below.

This weeks laser racing involved 4 lasers. Ali MacLeod, Alex Spence, David Graham and Peter McCardel. A gentle breeze with most sailors in shorts and T shirts. The racing involved 3 races with the points totalled after the three races with a discard coming into play.

In race one Ali showed a clean transom but followed closely by Alex who had a fantastic start, right on the money. Then David close behind and dragging his heels, Peter.

Someone shoved a rocket up Peter's **** for race two which saw him trounce them all. Second again by a nose was Alex after Ali shot himself in the foot trying to keep David from sailing past, Alex going from last to second in one fell swoop.

Race three and anyone could have won, the top two fighting it out were Ali and Peter. In the end the wind died but Ali had just enough to win this race and therefore the evenings affair. Peter in second and Alex third. A special mention for David who hogged all the 3rds and 4ths (maybe next time you could let someone else have a chance!!).
