Wednesday Night Laser Series 18/09/2006

That's about it for this year's (evening) series.  We had hoped to have a final race last Wednesday, but only myself and Alex turned up despite a fairly good breeze (OK it was raining).  Having been late back due to an accident on the A816, I had only intended to run the safety boat in any case.  Despite this Alex did go out in a Pico.  Alex definitely wins the effort and enthusiasm prize this year, and has only missed one race this year, due to his holidays.

So we end the series after Race 13, but I am not supersticious about it. Final series results are attached, but to summarise  the top 5 are as follows.

1st - Isla Graham
2nd - Alex Spence
3rd - Nick Purdy
4th - Andy Chadwick
5th - Peter McCardel

Prizes will be available at the next suitable CBC social event - Ali please advise me when this might be...

I would like to thank all those who turned out through the season, even if was only once or twice - it was good that so many (16 actually) supported the Wednesday Evening events.

Particular thanks are due to the hardcore of Laser (and Dart) sailors, all of whom are named above, but also to Iain Saunders for setting the Wednesday events up in the first place.  To Tom McCardel, and Ali Macleod for their support and being there when needed.  And to David Graham, Alistair Spence and Guy Neville for all their assistance and manning the safety boat so that I could  enjoy myself more often.   All greatly appreciated.

I am happy to continue sailing (weather permitting) on a less formal basis on Sunday afternoon.  I am usually out at around 1400,  feel free to give me a call beforehand if want to go out.

I would hope that we will run another series next year, and for anyone interested maybe organise a CBC entry to one or two Laser traveller events, but all ideas for next year will be gratefully accepted.
