Wednesday Night Sailing - Match Racing vs Tayvallich

A very slow night last Wednesday apparently, with a shortened one lap race taking over half an hour to complete. Glad I missed it to be honest. Isla won the race, but Alex consolidates his position at the top of the leaderbaord.

Sunday saw our return match race away at Tayvallich.  A gentle breeze, bright sunshine and the beautiful surroundings of Loch Sween made it (for me at least) one of the most enjoyable afternoons sailing for a long time.  The Craignish team consisted of Ranny and Sally, Ali and Alex and Guy and myself.  Tayvallich supplied nearly new (<20 years old) Fifteens, which compared to the motley collection of 'classics' at Craignish were a joy to sail, and there was not a length of baler twine or gaffer tape in sight.

Racing was initially very close and after 4 races the score stood at 2 each.  However aggressive Craignish tactics eventually wore down the more gentlemanly Tayvallich team and Craignish took the match 7 points to two.

Once again a big thanks to Tayvallich for organising the day and being extremely good company as usual.

We are planning a joint assault on the Round Shuna race this year so I expect a sizeable contingent of Flying Fifteens and Dinghies this year.  We are also planning a 'bring your own sausage' barbeque on the Saturday Evening....   Watch this space for more details.
