About the Council

Craignish Community Council meets at 8pm on the first Wednesday of alternate months in Craignish Village Hall. All meetings are open to the public and the Agenda is displayed on local notice-boards, on this website, and circulated to a wide email list 2 weeks prior to the meeting. Following the meeting, the minutes are similarily distributed.

Craignish Community Council covers the Polling District AL54 within the Argyll and Bute Local Government Register of Electors currently in force.

The purpose of the Community Council is to ascertain, co-ordinate and express to Argyll and Bute Council and to other public authorities, the views of the community which it represents in relation to matters for which those authorities are responsible, and to take such action, in the interests of the community, as appears to be expedient and practicable.

Community Councils were established under the provisions of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 and in accordance with the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils made by Argyll and Bute Council.
