The Council, meeting together, is the final decision making body. However certain functions are designated to four Committees and their Sub-committees and Working Parties as follows:
Finance & General Purposes (F&GP)
- Overall responsibility for the management of the Council’s financial affairs in accordance with legislative requirements, regulations and guidelines, recommending the precept (the amount of money demanded from the District Council, who collects it on behalf of the Parish Council as part of the Council Tax). Amenity Land (AL)
- This committee is responsible for the amenity areas, commons, village greens, open spaces, ponds, rivers and woodlands, including those rented and leased by the Council, including their maintenance which includes grass cutting, fencing, boundary walls, gates and buildings. Leisure Facilities (LF)
- Responsibility for the maintenance of the Council’s leisure areas: allotments, recreation grounds, sports grounds, tennis grounds, football pitches, cricket pitches, basketball courts, tennis courts, bowling greens, youth shelters, pavilions and play equipment, included those rented or leased by the Council. Works, Services and Planning (WS&P)
- Responsibility for the maintenance of the Council’s offices and depot, Warden’s House, cemeteries and closed churchyards, war memorials and other heritage markers, bus shelters, highway litter bins, seats and trees not the responsibility of other authorities.The committee is also responsible for the Council's vehicles, plant, equipment and tools, For more details click here.
Planning Applications (WS&P/PA)
- The sub-committee is made up of Ward Planning Representatives, appointed by the Works, Services and Planning Committee. It considers planning applications referred to it by Ward Planning Representatives. For more details click here.
Publicity
- This Working Party reports to the F&GP committee and is responsible for producing the twice-yearly newsletter sent out to all residents within the parish, Council stands at local community events and for maintaining the Council website.
