Within the Authority, ultimate power rests with the Full Council. However, functions are designated to four Principal Committees and their Sub-committees and Working Parties as follows:
Amenity Land (AL)
- The AL committee is responsible for the amenity areas, commons, village greens, open spaces, ponds, rivers and woodlands, including those rented and leased, including the maintenance of the above which includes grass cutting, fencing, boundary walls, gates, buildings. For more details click here.
Finance & General Purposes (F&GP)
- Overall responsibility for the management of the Council’s financial affairs in accordance with legislative requirements, regulations and guidelines, recommending the precept (the amount of money received from the District Council, as the Rating Authority, is collected from the Council Tax). Leisure Facilities (LF)
- Responsibility for the Council’s leisure facilities areas, allotments, recreation grounds, sports grounds, tennis grounds, football pitches, cricket pitches, basketball courts, tennis courts, bowling greens, youth shelters, pavilions and play equipment, included those rented or leased. Works, Services and Planning (WS&P)
- Responsibility for the Council’s Depot and yard, Warden’s house, Council Office, vehicles, plant, equipment, tools, bus shelters, war memorials and highway litter bins, seats and trees not the responsibility of other authorities. For more details click here.
Planning Applications (WS&P/PA)
- The Committee to consist of Ward Planning Representatives, appointed by the Works, Services and Planning committee. To consider planning applications referred by Ward Planning Representatives, for any reason. For more details click here.
Publicity
- The subcommittee reports to the F&GP committee and is responsible for producing the twice yearly newsletter sent out to all residents within the parish along with the web site authoring and updating.
