This was an cycling trip
organised by a charity firm called "Bike
Events", where we spent 5 days going from Harwich on
the ferry to the Hook of Holland, into Den Haag (staying
there overnight in a hostel) then onto Amsterdam the next
day - riding 50 miles up along the coast and through the
dunes. Stopped off on the way at a seaside resort called
Zanvoort where I've been before - they even have an old
Grand Prix cicuit there! The third day was a rest day in
Amsterdam, so a chance to see the sights, the 4th day
going back to Den Haag - again 50 miles, but by a
beautiful scenic route - picture taken here on that day
of the ride. The last day from Den Haag to the Hook of
Holland again via the beautiful town of Delft - well
worth a visit! With some additional mileage I did, I
think it totted up to about 170 miles of riding in 4 days
- not bad really, even though it was flat all the time,
so no challenging hills!! ;o) |

A real Windmill dontcha know!?
Taken just outside Amsterdam city, this was probably the
best example close up that I saw. Great ride though, and
I would really recommend it for someone who isn't used to
riding too far, or doesn't like hills. The people on the
ride were really of mixed ages, all the way up to 60 or
70yr olds I think! Trying
to find the link on the web to 'Bike Events' the people
that organise these things, but can't find it at the
moment. Drop me an email, or I'll post a link soon if I
find it.

Final group picture taken at
the ferry port before returning home. Quite a friendly
bunch and I had a really great time! |
