Want to swap traffic jams, crowds, brick walls, foul air - for sand, sea and sky?
Combine the satisfaction of working in a busy, friendly practice with a better quality of life on the Lincolnshire Coast.
Our practice has a lot to offer
The Cleethorpes surgery was set up as a purpose built surgery unit (5 surgeries - 3 overlooking the sea) in 1980. The surgeries are light, airy and purpose designed. Each may be isolated for water, electricity, etc. and are piped with oxygen and nitrous oxide for R.A. sedation.
The surgery which is situated at the south end of the town - draws mainly from an upper/middle-class area - with greatly appreciative patients coming from professional/middle/upper management families. Some of the surgeries on the front of the building have magnificent, open views over the River Humber estuary and the North Sea. (The picture constantly changes with the tide, the shipping and visiting wading birds, etc.)
The surgeries are worked by 7 dental surgeons - including a visiting oral surgeon and a hygienist. One of the dentists has a special interest in orthodontics (will he still after next April?) And most O.S and orthodontic work is done "in-house".
We also have a very busy branch practice (1 surgery) 16 miles down the road in a rural location - in the village of North Somercotes - where the Principal lives (Temporary accommodation would be available with him).
Our surgeries meet the highest standards of the V.D.P. (V.T.) scheme and are staffed by competent, caring DSA's - all of whom have worked with us for a long time. We have a happy practice and have few staff changes.
The office, administration and whole practice is run by Diane Kennan - the practice manager (and Dragon!!), who has been with us since the start and is the BOSS!
We have a large client base (10,000 plus) and patients are all mainly NHS, (mixed) private and Denplan. Three of the dentists are Denplan registered. We offer a full range of treatment backed by considerable expertise - and, in general, patients are all very appreciative and very well motivated.
The age range of dentists is 30-54 and we have weekly practice meetings (over a pint!) in a nearby pub and frequent meals out. We have a very free and frank exchange of views and ideas and keep abreast of current trends.
There is the potential to practice ethical dentistry in very pleasant, modern surroundings and a high gross is easily attainable. Hours can be worked to suit - and extra evenings or Saturday mornings can be arranged. There is no night or weekend "on call" emergency work for you to do.
Remunerations can be agreed on an incentive scale. The principal (54 in 2001) will be retiring in 10 - 15 years and would be partial to a buy in by one or more persons who might all work well together. This could be staged with payments over a number of years. Finance can be arranged.
Our area has a lot to offer. We are just two minutes walk from one of the most modern and well-run leisure centres in the country - squash, circuits, weights, gym, swimming, step, etc. Water sports are 40 yards away - when the tide is in! Yatching, water skiing and windsurfing, sea angling - and swimming if you're mad!
The sandy Cleethorpes Beach is ideal for young children. We offer the finest countryside for rural pursuits - the Wolds - beautiful, wooded, chalk downs run southwards from the Humber and separate Lincoln from the sea. We have a strong farming connection in the practice and good access to good shooting, fishing, hunting, etc. Our roads are quiet - good for cycling - and the terrain is unequalled for mountain bikes.
Cost of living is cheap - terraced house - 40 K; good semi - 65 K; detached - 100 K. (Check out house prices with local estate agents, Goudes at: www.goudes.co.uk)
There are excellent schools in the area - state junior, private and good, solid middle-class grammar schools. There are also colleges and a Univesity in the town.
We have a good football team (Grimsby Town) and the Cleethorpes Cricket Club (ground five-minutes walk - one of the best in Lincolnshire) play in the esteemed Yorkshire league. Lincolnshire is also famous for it's golf courses - Woodhall Spa - rated as the best inland course in the country and the home of the English Golf Union. Cleethorpes has a unique "links" course, whilst Grimsby and Kenwick (Louth) are well established, high calibre courses. Numerous others abound.
The area is well served by the M180 and M18 - but yet unspoilt by the Motorway access. Newark (A1) - 1 hour; Doncaster - 1 hour; Sheffield - 1 hour 15 mins; Leeds - 1 hour 45 mins. The Humber Bridge (25 mins) offers access to Yorkshire - the Dales and the Moors - and a host of good walks.
A recent survey of the quality, showed the air in Cleethorpes and surrounding area to be some of the cleanest in the country.
We have good access to the continent - North Sea Ferries (Hull), just 30 minutes away open up Holland, Belgium, Germany and France. Humberside airport, 20 minutes away, links with Schiphol (Holland) and the world.
"North East Lincs is a great part of the world," states Roger. "It has a lot to offer and I'm pleased that my children had the opportunity to be raised here and experience the better qualities of life at an early age."
