Private work is any undertaken that is not under the NHS. This may well be because it is not available under that scheme - cosmetic work, bleaching, sport guards, tooth coloured crowns in the back of the mouth, tooth coloured filling materials, etc.
When you are seen privately, more time may be spent doing the job which may allow the work to be done to a higher standard. There is more opportunity to offer advanced techniques and more choice. Working outside the constraints of the NHS means better materials may be used - to achieve a better result. There is also scope to use a superior dental laboratory to produce a higher quality product.
