SCIENTIFIC
ADVISORY BOARD
Dr Simon F Campbell FRS has co-authored over
110 publications and patents and was elected Fellow
of the Royal Society in 1999. Dr Campbell has received
numerous awards for his scientific achievements including
the Royal Society of Chemistry Medal for Medicinal Chemistry,
the Hershberg Award from the American Chemical Society
and the IRI Achievement Award. Dr Campbell recently
retired from Pfizer Central Research as Senior VP of
Worldwide Discovery and Medicinals R&D Europe, and
was a key member of the research teams that discovered
Cardura, Norvasc and Viagra.
Prof
Steven V Ley FRS is currently Professor of Organic
Chemistry at the University of Cambridge, and Fellow
of Trinity College, Cambridge. He is also key advisor
to companies such as Pfizer and Novartis. Prof Ley's
awards for contributions to science include the Rhone-Poulenc
Lectureship, Medal of the Royal Society of Chemistry,
and the Glaxo Wellcome Award for Outstanding Achievement
in Organic Chemistry. Prof Ley was elected Fellow of
the Royal Society in 1990 and is Immediate Past President
of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Dr
Steve Wilson is a principal Investigator at the
Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology, University
College London. He has published more than 40 high quality
papers, including 11 papers in Nature and Neuron. His
primary research interests are the mechanisms underlying
the patterning of the developing vertebrate brain. He
is highly regarded as one of the leading experts in
the zebrafish community.
Dr
David Rubinsztein is a Wellcome Trust Senior Clinical
Fellow/Honorary Consultant based in the Department of
Medical Genetics Cambridge University. His research
interest is the biology of Huntington's disease and
related conditions associated with abnormal intracellular
protein aggregates, like oculopharangeal muscular dystrophy
and Parkinson's disease. His publications include major
work on Huntington's disease and Alzheimer's disease.
Dr
Julie Barnes spent 14 years in Pharmaceutical
R&D, mostly at GlaxoSmithKline. Her R&D experience
spans both preclinical and early clinical activities,
with a particular specialisation in central nervous
system (CNS) target discovery. In addition to leading
and managing multidisciplinary drug discovery project
teams, Julie has headed departments in CNS research
and has led initiatives to assist in the definition
of broad therapeutic strategy and prioritisation for
the CNS therapeutic area. Julie's particular specialisation
is in the area of neurodegenerative disease, particularly
Alzheimer's disease and in behavioural neuroscience.
She has numerous publications in both of these areas.
Julie currently holds the position of Chief Scientific
Officer at BioWisdom, Cambridge, UK.
Professor
Bill Harris has been Professor of Anatomy at Cambridge
University since 1997. The Department of Anatomy in
Cambridge University is one of the leading centres of
excellence world-wide for both its training of doctors
and its medical research. He has authored over 100 major
scientific papers, including 7 Nature papers. He is
a world leader in visual and stem cell research with
special interests in molecular development and genetics
of the nervous system. He is a co-founder of DanioLabs.

zebrafish model for systematic mutant screens, with
the aim of discovering the genes and genetic pathways
that control behavior and its neuro-pathological changes.
Some of his current academic interests are in blindness,
epilepsy, ataxia, and in neural stem cells. He has published
widely (including in Science, Neuron, and Nature Neurosciece)
and is the recipient of several research awards. Dr.
