The benefits of the zebrafish lends them to the parallel screening of multiple targets through the administration of libraries of structural diverse chemical libraries. As drug-like compounds are used for screening, the identified targets are biased towards druggable targets. Such compounds can be produced through combinatorial or diversity orienated synthesis methods.

Phytochemicals:

As the screening for activity in zebrafish models of disease requires small amounts of compounds and can look at combination effects, this approach is very amenable to screen for activity in plant extracts.
