I was born in the wonderful City of Birmingham and I love this town, I love the fact that when I left school at the age of 15 I Could boast that if I wanted to I could get work in any one of a 1000 trades and my city made everything from Children's toys to some of the world's best motorbikes and cars.
If you give us a piece of metal we brummie's can press it into a car panel or make it into an intricate piece of fine polished jewellery for you in our own Jewellery Quarter. We can stamp it into coins for you in Birmingham's own mint (where I used to work after leaving school), cut it into a key for a lock that we have just made for you. Or machine it into a fine part for the inside of a gearbox in your car.
You want a train (and we have got the Shakespeare Express ) or we can build you one at the Metro camel work's (Alstom Ltd) in Washward Heath. These are just some of the reasons why Birmingham is known as the city of 1000 trades.
We've got culture too we have the best art gallery and some of the finest museums in the country, including the fantastic newly restored Blakesley hall which is just ½ a mile from my house.
The best chocolate in the world is made here in Birmingham at Cadbury in Bournville. Also we the world famous sounds of the Bournville Carillon have a listen to them classy sounds
