UniMag measures Paper Pulp
|
| A 200mm UniMag (DT) flowmeter was chosen to meter thick paper stock at
UK Paper. Standard pulsed DC meters are not suitable for this application
as there is too much noise from the solid matter in the paper stock. Pulsed
AC meters have an energizing current of approx. 5amps and operate at a frequency
of 40Hz giving them a huge improvement in signal to noise ratio. The MicroDelta
pulse converter is seen in the foreground. The DeltaMag meter replaced a
conventional pulsed DC meter. |

UniMag measures Concrete
|
| A 5" UniMag (DT) flowmeter was installed on a piledriver pouring
raw concrete into the ground. The concrete had stones, concrete slurry,
and water and was thought to be impossible to meter. A meter is desirable
as the flow and shape of the concrete pile can be controlled. A conventional
meter had completely failed in the same location on a previous trial. This
meter has now been working for over 2 years without fail. |

Delta Mass measures Dredging Mud
|
The image below shows a 32" DeltaMass Mass Flow Meter giving the
output in tonnes/hour of dredging mud being dragged up from the New Orleans
Estuary.
The meter gives an accurate volumetric signal despite the stones, gravel
and silt slurry and combines this with and a density signal given by an
integral nucleonic density gauge. The skipper of the dredger can set the
speed of the pump so he neither burns out the motors by dredging too hard,
or too little if the silt contains too much water. A special dredging efficiency
logger is also available to plot the optimum cross over point. DeltaMass
provides a % solids signal to the logger which is displayed.
