Like many things, the publishing house GMS Enterprises came about almost by accident!

Graham Simons may have trained as an engineering tool-maker and designer, but there has been an overwhelming interest in all aspects of aviation since the late 1960s - firstly with civil aviation at the numerous London Airports and then as a founder member of the East Anglian Aviation Society, one of the three organisations that went into the creation of the world-famous aeronautical collection at Duxford near Cambridge.

Graham eventually rose to the position of Engineering Director of the Society - in charge of the restoration-to-fly of their own DH89A Dragon Rapide G-AJHO (a genuine ex RAF Dominie Mk.II) as 'G-ADDD' the first machine of the Kings Flight back in the mid 1930s. This was a project done with full approval of and in conjunction with Air Vice-Marshal John Severne, the Captain of the Queen's Flight, Royal Air Force.

It was from this, that the publishing company evolved...
