This in turn brought forth more business - including the first commission from the Royal Air Force - to produce and publish on their behalf the hardback book Green Fields and the Sky, by Norman Roberson and Jack Talliss, the story of RAF Cottesmore.
This was followed by a number of other airfield histories. Wings over Westwood - the story of RAF Peterborough and Offence to Defence, the story of RAF Binbrook by Stewart Scott and John Jackson.
Other airfield books were produced, including a some commissions for internal Air Force use, such as Tornado Team, a photographic record of the first two hundred courses through the Tri-national Tornado Training Establishment (including a number from the Royal Saudi Arabian Air Force), and The History of RAF Bentley Priory and Stanmore Park for Harrow Council.
It seems there was a growing interest in the histories of individual airfields expressed by the book-buying public. This led to a year-long feasibility and conceptual study - the result of which was the creation of our continuing 'Airfield Focus' series of booklets
