The first volume - featuring the early pilots from founder of the company Alliott Verdon-Roe to H. A. 'Sam' Brown - has seven Chapters and ten Appendices that contains over 300 illustrations.

It has information and photographs covering the period from A.V. Roe's first triplane, through the days of the famous Avro 504, the graceful Avian, the workhorse Anson, and the Avro Manchester, up to the famous Lancaster and York.
