Advertise a website, ways that work for me. Written by Stephen Skyvington-DiplockEveryone needs to advertise their website, if they want to attract visitors to it. Advertising your website can be approached either on-line or offline for the purposes of this article we will look at on-line advertising. When I sat down to write this my head filled with terms such a pay per click (ppc) advertising, traffic generation, email advertising, articles, blogs, manual and auto surf. It suddenly struck me that these are all relevant terms applicable to advertising your website. We advertise our website to generate visitors the quality of those visitors is dependant upon the quality of your advertising and the medium you use. You will attract the odd visitor but in general people set their computers auto surfing and then get on with something else. Manual surfing is a different story and can be an extremely effective advertising method. Whilst I hate to admit it Blogging or Article advertising is very effective and again free. Your only cost will be the time it takes to write the article and publish it. I say that I hate to admit it because like most I didn't want to get into writing, I just wanted to make money. The first is a necessary evil to achieve the latter. The quality of the visitors seems to be good because people have a real interest in what you have to say, that's why they read the article and will click to see the website you advertise. email advertising and ppc advertising are two of the online advertising areas which I must confess I do not use. WHY? I hear you ask. Well, it's a personal thing. When I was email advertising I was accused of spamming and it took ages to convince the ISP concerned that I was not and had the relevant information concerning the complainant. PPC advertising can be expensive and not produce a lot of results if you haven't mastered keyword analysis and selection. Having said all of the above I suppose that how I advertise a website is what works for me. You must find what works for you by employing some of the above methods when decide to advertise your website.
