Greenbank
Parish Church is twinned with the church of Richmond Craigmillar. Those
who have been involved with the relationship recognise that both congregations
have benefited from the link.
The latest of several impressive initiatives at Richmond is Richmond’s
Hope. (The logo, the result of a children’s competition, is shown
here.)
By converting the gallery of their church into suitable accommodation,
they are working to heal children who have experienced bereavement. These
children may have been grieved by the death of a parent, a sibling, a
close relative or other loss, through substance dependency or neglect.
By providing a therapeutic environment, including art therapy on a one-to-one
basis or in groups, the project workers help the children to express and
understand their grief, and in the process the community will learn to
understand better these children’s needs.
Greenbank is proud to be associated with Richmond Craigmillar church,
whose members seek to serve Christ in what can be extremely difficult
circumstances.
If anyone is interested
in attending the morning service at Richmond, this takes place at 11.00am.
The church is at 229 Niddrie Mains Road. If anyone needs help with transport
they can contact Valerie Macniven.
The
Memorial Tree was set up so that people in the Community of Craigmillar
could have a place where they could mourn the passing of their loved ones.
The memorial is engraved on one of the leaves. The leaves will be moved
around from time to time so that different leaves will come to the front.
