Pastoral Care

Greenbank Parish Church, Edinburgh
Greenbank Parish Church
Edinburgh

Through the traditional system of elders visits each member within the Edinburgh area receives a number of visits each year. In addition:

  • The Pastoral Assistant visits the elderly and housebound as agreed with the Minister, with arrangements being made for home communion as necessary.
  • A trained bereavement team is in place to offer support as required and an annual service of remembrance is held.
  • The elders are supported by a team of District Visitors whose prime role is delivery of the church magazine and Life and Work but who also are able to keep in touch with members. The church magazine is also produced in large print and taped versions.
  • After the Harvest service, plants are distributed by the children to elderly and housebound members.
  • There is a group – the ABC group – that arranges to sit with elderly people to allow carers a break for whatever reason is appropriate.
