Elm Farm is a 300 acre working farm near Keynsham. The farm has been in the Paget family for almost 250 years, and over the last 30 years much work has been done to improve it for the benefit of the environment and wildlife. Birds, mammals (including bats), moths, butterflies, reptiles and insects are regularly recorded to help monitor ‘at risk’ and rare species in order to target conservation work. One example of a species that have returned are Barn owls, which have successfully bred again this year. Parts of the farm grow crops specifically for the benefit of wildlife. Fields where cattle and sheep graze, the cider orchard, ponds, hedges and woodland are managed to give good habitat for a wide range of creatures. The farm is not open to the public, but has a few pre- booked visits each year such as bird watchers, Rotary, Scouts and schools. There is a small flock of free range hens, and with a large vegetable/fruit kitchen garden, orchard and bee hives during family meals at Elm Farm there is talk of food inches (or centimetres!) not miles!

There is an opportunity to come and see for yourself what farmers do to help wildlife and the environment, with a farm walk (good farm tracks and field pathways)

Booking essential

Please note: The farm is not open to the general public but we welcome enquiries from

people who would like to bring an interested group for an organised, pre-booked visit.
