Elm Farm

Elm Farm - Wildlife

With the help local experts we have been recording wildlife since 2000. This has meant we can monitor progress in our target to improve biodiversity on the farm.

We have detailed records of birds (including owls), bats, insects (moths, butterflies, hoverflies, dragonflies) and flowers.

There are seven plots on the farm that have been sown with different varieties of plants specifically for insects, birds and mammals. Besides being good habitat it will produce winter feed.

There are also two hectares of land managed specifically for lapwings, to encourage them to nest, and a further hectare planted with clovers and vetches for Bumble Bee's.

Please note: The farm is not open to the general public but we welcome enquiries from

people who would like to bring an interested group for an organised, pre-booked visit.
