Many oriental paintings tell a story through the elements used in the image. Particular items have very specific meanings like chrysanthemum, which is the flower of mid autumn and is a symbol of joviality, the butterfly is the Chinese cupid, and the crane is a symbol of long life reportedly living for 600 years.
One important factor with oriental paintings is that they only paint the subject, so nothing else can distract the eye like a distant hill or village. This simplification of the painting makes them more delicate than European paintings, which by comparison are very objective in depicting everything in view.
Just Paintings take pride in their presentation of Chinese silks and use many decorative fancy cut double mounts.
To the left is an arch top mount which the mount measured 500x250mm.
To the right is an octagonal circle which the mount measured 550x550mm.
Both of these particular paintings have now been sold but are shown as examples of the standard of our presentation. However we have other similar ones in stock.
