Farm with sheep 16”x10” watercolour Ray Whitchard
Light Sunset 16½”x16” watercolour William Neal
Venice 17½”x11” watercolour Keith Varvell
Rushes 22”x22” watercolour with gold leaf Janet Rodgers
The choice of watercolours is very varied as these images show.
William Neal landscapes have gently shaded colours and look apparently simple but are very detailed warranting close examination.
The traditional landscape by Ray Whitchard shows the tranquility of rural Britain with sheep grazing in the foreground and a still lake in the distance.
By comparison the detailed view of Venice by Keith Varvell is truly majestic in the way it captures this romantic city. The tower is in St Mark’s Square and the central building is Palazzo Ducale. Added interest are the two boys fishing and the gondolas.
Janet Rogers uses bold free brush stokes to capture the essence of these abstract rushes. She also uses gold leaf and some glazing varnish.
