The St Cecilia Singers of Rushden is one of the leading choirs in East Northamptonshire
and was founded in 1943. It has been a mixed voice community choir since the 22nd November that year – St Cecilia’s Day, and presently is about 30 strong with members drawn from Rushden and the surrounding areas.

Rehearsals take place at Park Road Baptist Church, Rushden, on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 to 9.30 pm, very roughly during School Term time. The Church is bright and spacious and many of our concerts are also performed here.

Over the years the Choir has had notable successes in Music Festivals, Competitions and Concerts, and has performed in many venues including Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Peterborough Cathedral and numerous others.

It is the Choir’s policy to perform music of all types to a high standard, particularly classical music, and generally once a year we perform with a small orchestra or string quartet. Where possible we do strive to engage and encourage young professional soloists and musicians.

If you have not been to one of our concerts previously, why not try one this season and perhaps join our ever growing regular audience Our Events page will tell you what we have planned.

If you like to sing yourself, why not contact our Secretary and come along one Tuesday to see what it’s like, as we are eager to attract new male and female members. It is essential that you have a good singing voice and an ability to read music would be an advantage.

The Choir is a member of Making Music ( The National Federation of Music Societies ) and is a Registered Charity no. 1155875.

Sadly our current Musical Director leaves us at the end of 2016 but we are pleased to appoint Keith Green as our Musical Director from 1st January 2017.
