We have worked carefully with the Qualification and Curriculum Authorities’ “Curriculum for the Foundation Stage” as we plan daily, weekly, and monthly themed activities in the following six specified areas of learning:

| Knowledge and understanding of the world |
| Physical development |
| Creative development. |
Using these areas of learning we work toward meeting the diverse needs of children and prepare them for the national literacy and numeracy strategies in a reception class. Rather than replacing play with education, our planning is only for play, but enhancing children’s playtime by encouraging all six areas above to feature in each activity.
