8pm Discussion Meeting on Worker's Rights in the EU: Green Party response to "wildcat" strikes
The lecture will examine the history, present conditions and the future of Guantanamo Bay detainment camp; its impact on community relations in the UK, and ways forward towards a more just and peaceful society.
Moazzam Begg was held in Guantanamo Detainment Camp between 2003 and 2005. As spokesman for the prisoner human rights organisation, Cageprisoners, Moazzam appears extensively both in the media and around the country, lecturing on issues surrounding torture, anti-terror legislation and community relation
There will be refreshments before the lecture and time for questions and discussion afterwards.

The Mayor of Kirklees, Cllr Julie Stewart-Turner will open the fair at 11.00.
A workshop session with discussion on energy co-ops will run from 11.30 - 12.45. Contributions from Valley Wind and a progress report plans to set up a consumer energy purchasing co-op.

The main speaker is Sir John Harman, who is a member of SERA who are supporting this event. John was formerly chair of the Environment Agency and is a past leader of Kirklees Council. He rcently wrote a pamphlet published by the Fabians on The Green Crunch

Tony Bunyan is a journalist and director of Statewatch, which has been monitoring civil liberties in Europe since 1991. He has recently published The Shape of Things to Come, which examines the EU’s plans for Justice and Home Affairs and warns of the erosion of our rights.
