businesses, and other organisations who put first access to the facilities
resources and tools people need to live more sustainable, inclusive and
environmentally friendly lives in Kirklees. The is section will be fully updated in early autumn 2008.

Chechelele: the York performance choir, specialising in world folk music from everywhere
except England with a reputation as one of the most entertaining groups
on the folk and world music scene. Operating on a non-profit basis, Chechelele
donate proceeds after costs to charities operating in the areas of the
world from where their songs originate.
Campaign
for Real Ale Huddersfield & District Branch campaigning
for real ale, real pubs and consumer rights. We are an independent, voluntary
organisation with 80,000 members and have been described as the most successful
consumer group in Europe.
The Albert
Hotel: The deepest original Victoriana of a real ale experience with proprietors
who can cook across the continents and with savor to match the delights

The
Monkey Club: based on Dean Brook Road, Armitage Bridge Tel 01484
664891. Is locally managed and owned by the community the club serves
real ale and has a function room for hire and community use. It is also
host to a range of events including summer season barbeques and duck races.
The
Grove: Refurbished and looking
great, a proper country pub interior free from jukeboxes and with lots
of wonderful solid wood furniture within the heart of town. Now serving
a range of independent and regional real ales on tap as well as over 50

Riverhead
Brewery Tap: Established in 1995 the Riverhead Brewery Tap is based in the centre of
Marsden and brews a number of real ales on the premises. Riverhead Brewery

The
Sair Inn: The Sair dates back to 1700 and has four rooms each with an open fire,
flagged floors, wooden settles and a grandfather clock. The Sair is also
home to a small brewery, Linfit, which brews a large range of real ales.

Huddersfield
in Bloom: find out how your green fingers could be rewarded
and encouraged as you make your street, community or the city a more floral
and cheerful place.
Kirklees
Energy Service: for
free impartial energy advice to householders, the service will support
you to improve energy efficiency through insulation and other means and
identify any grants for improvements to which you may be entitled. KES
can also advise you about renewable technologies - photovoltaics, solar
water heating etc - for your home.
Clear
Skies Website:Clear
Skies, funded by DTI and managed by BRE, aims to give householders and
communities a chance to realise the benefits of renewable energy by providing
grants and access to sources of advice.
Alternative
Technology Centre Hebden Bridge: An educational resource centre
sited on the banks of the Rochdale Canal Hebden Bridge. An informative
place to go to find out about sustainability and renewable practice.
Bempton Cliffs: With three miles of sheer cliffs, Bempton is
the best place in England to get close close-up views of puffins, gannets,
guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and fulmars from safe viewing points
between April and mid-August.
Heely
City Farm Sheffield: Including Renewable Energy Centre with
information and demonstrations of wind and solar power and how these technologies
work in homes and workplaces. Plus rare and unusual domestic animals including
large black pigs, Soay sheep, prize winning goats, Fern Chough the Exmoor
pony and Molly the Irish moiled cow.
Old
Moor: RSPB Old Moor in the Dearne Valley has extensive visitor
facilities, is a fantastic place to watch wintering wildfowl and wading
birds. There is a full programme of birdwatching for beginners along with
other events, including dragonfly and butterfly walks.

ISP the Calderdale based broadband providers who work with
TreeSponsibility, a Climate Action Group to "offset all our Co2 emissions"
and plant a tree for every person who signs up to broadband.
The Green Express: From a one off protest train by the Huddersfield Green Party, Green Express
is now run as a small business, remembering its origins and committed
to promoting public transport and sustainable tourism.
The
Penistone Line Partnership: a voluntary organisation which supports and promotes community involvement
along the Huddersfield to Sheffield railway line. Find out about their
programme of walks, special train journeys and other activities.
Cycling:For
more information about safe routes, cycle facilities and the Kirklees
Bicycle Users Group a forum campaigning to improve commuting routes
and facilities for cyclists and encouraging more people to commute by
bike or cycle for leisure.
Colne
Valley Tree Society: The Colne
Valley Tree Society was founded in 1964 by local people who wanted to
improve the valley and restore their woodland heritage by planting on
industrial eyesores and quarries.
The
Friends of Beaumont Park (FoBP) - founded in 1998 to help stop
the gradual decay of the park (see 'Past and Present'). Since then, the
Friends have worked tirelessly towards park regeneration and revival -
the entire site is now Grade II listed and the friends have aspirations
and eco ambitions for the Park's future.
The
Friends of Longley Woods "The Friends of Longley Woods
aim to protect and preserve the woods for the benefit of the local community.
The Friends hold monthly public meetings and various outdoor events."
Amnesty
International Huddersfield formed
in 1976 in response to a meeting where Dr. Sidney Greaves asked for support
to get rid of torture in 53 countries around the world, much of it with
the connivance of peoples own governments. Iin its 27th year the violence sadly still continues and Amnesty still
needs your support to end the abuse to Human Rights.
Campaign
Against Arms Trade set up in 1974 by a number of peace and
other organisations who were concerned about the growth in the arms trade
following the Middle East war of 1973. It is a broad coalition of groups
and individuals in the UK working to end the international arms trade.
Huddersfield
Stop the War: the
local branches of the international coalition dedicated to stopping the
war declared by the United States and its allies against 'terrorism'.
Kirklees
Unity: are a broad based non political organisation consisting
of people from the whole of Kirklees. Kirklees Unity is committed to diffusing
the tensions and fear created by the British National Party and racism
in general. Kirklees Unity works towards a safe multi cultural Kirklees
where all people regardless of their colour, class or creed can live peacefully
together and where the views of extreamist groups who would propogate
racial hatred are not allowed to go unquestioned and unopposed. If you
