Series 'E' Flameproof Motors
Series 'E' Flameproof Motors
The motor enclosure
is designed to withstand the increased pressure which results from the
ignition of a flammable gas or vapour within the machine and to do so
without transmitting the flame through enclosure joints to the external
hazardous atmosphere.
All joints in the enclosure, whether permanently closed or designed
to be opened from time to time, are provided with flamepaths whose
dimensions comply with the relevant standard relating to the group
of gasses for which the motor is certified.
Declaration of Conformity.
Series ‘E’ Flameproof motors, when properly applied in accordance with the insulation and operating instructions meet the current European directives (Machinery, Low Voltage and EMC) in so far as they are applicable to the motors themselves.Independent Certification
Certification of the enclosure by a recognised independent testing authority is mandatory, Series ‘E’ Flameproof motors are certified by BASEEFA.Main Features
- Stator Fame and Endshields – Fabricated from steel or cast in SG iron.
- Bearings – Liberally rated grease lubricated rolling element bearings with grease escape facility. Bearing selection ensures minimum L10h life of 40,000 hours.
- Cooling Fan – Bi-directional, Uni.-directional, fabricated or cast designs are available to meet particular noise and efficiency criteria.
- Rotor – Manufactured using copper or copper alloy bars brazed to substantial jointless endrings. All rotors are dynamically balanced to ISO1940/1 (BS6861 : Part1 : 1987)
- Terminal Boxes – Series ‘E’ motors can be provided with EExe or EExd main terminal boxes for all voltages up to and including 11kV. A phase insulated EExe terminal box is normally provided. Fault-containing, phase segregated EExd and EExe Bimold type terminations are available options.
- Auxiliary Devices – Anti-condensation heaters, winding and bearing temperature detectors are all available, terminated in EExe auxiliary terminal boxes as standard. Flameproof EExd auxiliary terminal boxes are an available option.
- Starting – All motors are designed for direct-on-line starting, with minimum performance to BS4999 : Part 112 : 1987 or IEC34-12 design ‘N’. Alternative starting performance to design ‘D’ as well as tailored low current/high torque options to meet specific load and/or supply system requirements are available.
- Efficiency – Series ‘E’ Motors are designed for optimum efficiency over the normal operating range in order to minimise lifetime operating costs. Special high efficiency designs, typically 97% are available.
- Noise – All motors meet the requirements of BS EN60034 : Part 9 : 1994. Alternative fan and silencer designs are available to meet lower noise requirements.
- Vibration – Attention to design and manufacturing processes ensure that all motors meet the requirements of IEC34 : Part 14 or BS4999 : Part 142 : 1987.
