Spanish Tapas Bar and Cafe
23 Wood Street, Old Town, Swindon, SN1 4AN. 01793 488450

The change of layout is now complete. We now have 5 tables for 2 people so we won't need to ask so many of you to share now! The extra bar space is given over to dispensing the beer and is already becoming a popular perch for partakers of pints, though still not as popular as the window seats!

Phil and Shareen are off on holiday for a couple of weeks and thought they would join the modern world and set up a blog so you can read about their culinary adventures as they travel the length of western Spain from Algeciras to Oviedo! Hopefully you can read it and post comments by following the link below if I've got the hang of this HTML stuff. While we are away, unfortunately, Los Gatos will be closed on Sunday evenings, 28th June, 5th July and 12th July. The lunchtime Paella on 5th July will be as normal, but is fully booked!

Saturday June 20th was a great day! Sorry if you didn't make it. There was a great atmosphere in the street and all of the live music venues were well supported with capacity crowds. We proudly featured a couple of live music events in the bar - jazz players Clive Morton on double bass and Esmond Selwyn on guitar went down a storm, despite the tiny space they had to play in

- a space that got even tinier when they were joined for an impromptu blow by renowned international trombonist Ian Bateman. The great atmosphere created by these musicians was quickly picked up and run with by Evonne Birch-Jackson and James Daubney in the guise of the Betula Daubney Duo, who wowed a rapturous crowd with a virtuoso display of Spanish guitar duets. We have some video footage of these musical interludes which we will try to put on the website in the next couple of days, so have a look when you can. From Tuesday 30th we are hoping to engage them in a regular Tuesday slot.

Our popular traditional Spanish Sunday lunch now takes place once a month - on the first Sunday of every month - when the bar will be open all day from 12.00 noon, with lunch around 1.30 pm and tapas available from 6.00pm. On the other Sundays, the bar will be available at lunchtimes for you to book for private parties only - a much-requested option. We will continue to be open for all every Sunday evening from 5.30 - 10.00pm (tapas from 6 - 9.00pm) with the occasional exception. Don't forget booking for Paella is now essential. As before, special paellas are available at lunchtimes and some evenings (minimum 2 persons, 48 hours notice required.)
