The purpose of the Montessori Child Development Programme emphasize continuity in the learning process. To prepare the child to become an
independent person, with a strong sense of self, requires the ability to improvise and use creativity to become freethinking individuals.
Dr. Maria Montessori, a pioneer in early childhood education, perceived
that the child has a natural inclination to learn. She devised a total environment to help children reach their full potential and enabling them to work, move and develop freely. Although Dr. Montessori's philosophy and
methods inform and inspire our approach today, we also focus on the findings of contemporary educational research.
As an example of how the curriculum works, there is a
chart showing the various links stemming from a single subject - in this case, painting. Here you can
appreciate how one subject of development can encompass a wealth of other "core" subjects and other areas of development.
Equal Opportunities Staff and students will challenge any form of prejudice. Our nurseries serve the community that we live in and the
children are admitted irrespective of their racial origins, gender, family groupings, cultural or linguistic backgrounds, class, ability or religious beliefs. On the contrary, we celebrate people's differences and
endeavour to integrate them all into our daily lives. The staff and students are responsible for implementing and developing this policy. Our Philosophy At Mother Goose Nurseries, we believe that with positive guidance, children can discover, think and learn for themselves, gaining problem solving skills as they go.With
their natural inclination to challenge the world around them, self confidence is encouraged through experimentation, and success is rewarded with praise. The children learn by doing, through physical and emotional
experience, as well as through the senses. These experiences are reinforced with the acquisition of language which underpins the progress and achievement of each child's realistic potential. Child Development Programme We use part of the Montessori Child
