May Day 1999

4 pictures of Hereburgh on May Day morning at Chesterton Windmill, just outside Harbury.

The photogenic windmill has just the right atmosphere for dancing at dawn.  This year, it was remarkably mild and we were in no hurry to rush off to breakfast.
Every single member of Hereburgh turned out for our 12th May Day performance (except for our breakfast cooks who made the ultimate sacrifice).  Here you see a small number of our musicians.
Mike and Doug carried out their threat of sleeping overnight at the windmill.  We woke them up at 5am to find them still looking cosy in their sleeping bags with the remnants of their beer supplies and their Morris kit on coat-hangers (yes, really!).
Yes, we really did get an audience at that hour.  We counted about 45 people there to watch us and some of them weren't even related to us!
