Tchaikovsky, we aim to take you on a decadently romantic tour of the
most sumptuous classical selections we could bring together, all

April's concert combines the magic of
Mozart with the might of Mahler. Award-winning young soprano Myvanwy
Bentall joins the orchestra once more, to perform her own selection of
arias alongside Mozart's mysterious and exciting Magic Flute overture.
The second half of the concert is Mahler's extraordinary first symphony
- ending in a triumphant blaze of glory (including a standing French
Horn section), the symphony takes us on a journey through beautiful
nature scenes, a funeral march, a Bohemian village band, and an
exuberant Landler. Its wild, triumphant conclusion, the first of many of
his symphonies to celebrate a victory of life over death, is not to be
missed. |
