Of the many pubs once found in Denver, The Bell is the only survivor in the main part of the village. The second of Denver's pubs is the Jenyns Arms, which is located at the Sluice, to the west of the village.
When Charlie & Maureen Burton left the Bell, in 1988, the lease was taken over by Ron Morgan and his wife, who instigated many internal alterations, knocking the two front bars into one and creating a small restaurant area. Although very pleasant people, the Morgans were not ideally suited to village pub life and Ron is remembered affectionately as "Rocket Ron", for his none too swift service behind the bar. After the Morgans, The Bell flourished for a short time, whilst local Landlady Diane Cox (nee Seymour) held the lease. When Diane left, there were a succession of managers, working for Swan Inns, who held the lease. In February 2000, Barry and Kate took over The Bell and many, much needed, renovations took place. Ownership changed again in April 2001 when local couple Giles and Jenny Lewis moved in. The pub and restaurant are now thriving again.
