Moen's High Quality Meats
Our reputation has grown up around the quality and variety of the meats we sell.
We sell organic and free range meats, and all our suppliers are carefully vetted.
New customers often remark on the range of meats displayed. In addition to the usual beef,
pork, lamb, chicken and bacon you will find (according to season):
- Game - pheasants, partridges, woodpigeons, hare, wild duck, venison, wild boar
- Home-made sausages in great variety - wild boar, venison, lamb and mint,
pork and garlic, honey and mustard, pork and leek, Cumberland, Toulouse, merguez
- Prepared fresh meat - stirfries, lamb marinaded in olive oil, rosemary, garlic and juniper berries,
pesto stuffed chump lamb (right), lamb shanks in red wine, kebabs, stuffed quail and guineafowl,
veal meatballs, lamb topside with sesame seed and redcurrant jelly
- Seasonal items - Burns' Night haggis, gulls' eggs, Spring lamb, Thanksgiving turkeys,
Christmas turkeys and geese
- Offal - not so easy to find nowadays, but we stock sweetbreads, ox and lambs'
hearts, pigs' trotters and tripe, in addition to the more usual calves' and lamb's
liver and kidneys.
Of course, we will always prepare meat to your requirements for a special dinner party or
Sunday lunch - a day or two's notice is appreciated.
There's a pile of recipe books by the counter, to inspire you or refresh your memory
so you don't get back home missing a vital ingredient. They are well-thumbed and constantly
referred to!
