Welcome to the holding page for the Street Play Rangers in North Solihull

This site is currently under construction as we develop this project, but if you would like further information, please contact us using the details given below.

The Street Play Rangers is a new project being set up by Northern Star Community Arts in the North Solihull area. The aim is to set up a number of teams that will work on the streets identified by local children, families, housing associations, police and other agencies, as having a need for the opportunity for a safe play environment after school, within easy access of a number of homes of children. The play rangers will ideally be recruited locally, providing the project with people who have knowledge of the local situations and a heart for the local communities. This will be supported by volunteers whenever possible, enabling a wider coverage of the area and future continuation. Initially, the play rangers will work in pairs, but as areas become established, they will continue to work alone, allowing the project to explore and become established in other areas. The Rangers will be trained in playwork and will explore and support the needs of the children and young people in each of the areas they work. They will be easily identifiable by parents to provide reassurance that there is a responsible adult around to help to minimise risk of harm to their children if they are allowed to play outside.

The Street Play Activities will provide opportunities for children and young people to work towards creating a safer street environment, creating networks of young people who are known to each other and local residents and are able to explore opportunities available.
