A Rabbit's Christmas

Still urgently needed! (November 2006)

We have been hunting all over the place for plastic/resin garden tables like these:

and we just can't seem to find any.  We managed to buy five from Tesco and we've had one donated, but we desperately need another four.  As you can see, we use them in the rabbit's exercise runs, they give shade from the sun and shelter from the rain.  They're high enough so that the buns can't jump up on them (any lower and the buns would use them as a launch pad to escape!).

We also need two of the bigger oval or rectangular shaped ones for two groups of three buns, so that they all manage to fit under it.

It doesn't matter if they are weather-beaten or scratched, so long as there's a top and four legs.

We'd be willing to collect providing it was local to Arbroath, so if you know anyone who isn't wanting their garden table any more, can you ask if we could have it please?

We'd really appreciate it but the buns would appreciate it more!

Thank you!

Run, Rabbits run...to Angus? (as seen in the Courier 23/10/06)

THE ONLY rabbit retirement home in the world is planning to relocate to Tayside from its current base in Wales.

Jay and John Evans have run the Ebony Eyes refuge for elderly and disabled rabbits for over five years and think the time is right for a move.

However, first they have to find a bunny-loving landlord who will be happy to accommodate them and the 24 rabbits currently in their care.

Jay said, “Because of the condition of the rabbits we take in, they have to live indoors. They use litter trays, like cats, but I know many landlords won’t even allow a single pet. That’s why we’re appealing for help in finding a suitable location.”

As well as needing at least five rooms in the house, the couple also require a large, secure garden for the rabbits well enough to be allowed outside in summer months.

Ideally, they would like to be within striking distance of Arbroath, as they have built up strong links with CARROT (Care And Rehoming Rabbits Of Tayside).

“We absolutely adore that part of Scotland, anyway, but because we have been working with our wonderful friends at CARROT we think it would be easier to move nearby,” added Jay.

Anyone who can help the couple is asked to contact them via their website, www.ebonyeyes.co.uk, or by calling 01745 889036.

Christmas Craft Fair

Due to the success of last year's craft fair, Pam has offered to organise another one to be held in the Community Centre in Carnoustie in December, further details about this as soon as the date is confirmed.

We got an award!
