  Spice (Rainbow Bridge sponsor bun)

This beautiful big girl is Spice, she's 5 years old.  At the moment she's a lovely sable colour, however she seems to change colour with the seasons!

She has a slight problem with her eyesight which causes her to scan her head (to focus on objects) but otherwise she is bouncing with health.

Spice is an outdoor bunny and lives in a large hutch and run set-up, we may eventually bond her with a boyfriend if a suitable one comes along.

She is wary of her surroundings and dislikes being in unfamiliar territory.  To begin with she was quite timid, but now she loves being picked up and cuddled and fussed over.

Spice's sponsors are: Tahra

Update: Sadly the pull of Rainbow Bridge was too much for Spice and she left us on the 8th of December, 2006.  On November 7th, we found her lying in her run and she had developed head-tilt through the night.  We brought her inside and arranged to take her to the vet.

On examination, the vet discovered a 'mass' on her brain behind her eye which could have been either a tumour, an abscess or a growth, none of which left a good prognosis.  We decided to support her to see if she would stabilise in her own time, she was given medication to reduce nausea and dizziness, and she continued to eat and poo as normal.  The only difference was that she was now being kept inside under 24 hour care, Jim doing the night shift and me doing the day shift.  Spice's only good eye was the one which had been affected by the head-tilt episode which meant that she was left with no eyesight at all, this made it more difficult for her to 'right' herself after rolling.  When things got a bit too much for her, we would sit her on our lap and let her have a good wash and a wee nap, she loved this and she was able to relax for long periods of time:

She continued to have lots of good days being surrounded with love and attention, she was grooming herself and listening to all the day-to-day noises around her.  Sadly though, her condition slowly deteriorated and she couldn't stop herself rolling, the medication wasn't helping any longer, and on the 8th of December we had to let her go.

~ Take care beautiful girl, we loved you so very much, and we love you still.  Enjoy seeing everything afresh with perfect eyes, breathe easily and enjoy the glorious scents all around you. Take all our love to the spirit buns sweetie, and tell them we miss them so ~
