   Whiskey

This is Whiskey and she is approximately 3 years old.  She arrived at C.A.R.R.O.T. in July 2004, her previous owner had a stroke and was unfortunately no longer able to care for her.

Whiskey is very sweet and quite vocal, especially when being petted.  She can also be very impatient and starts to thump when she knows her breakfast or supper is coming!  Another endearing trait is trying to wear things on her head ie. her litter tray, her toys, hay etc!  She also doesn't mind being cuddled and loves having her nose rubbed.

Whiskey loves to play with toys and can often be found clattering her toys about in the middle of the night.  She can also lead you a merry dance when trying to get her back into her hutch, she prefers to go back herself in her own time (which isn't good if you run a rescue and you're in a hurry to let other buns out for their run-around time!).  However, cos she's so cheeky, I tend to forgive her.

Update: Whiskey has now been vaccinated and spayed.  Unfortunately she has developed a slight respiratory problem (very easily controlled but infectious to other buns) and will now need to be rehomed as a single bun to an attentive rabbit owner.   However, her ex-prospective husbun Haggis is very disappointed but will hopefully find a new missus soon!

Update: Unfortunately Whiskey developed an abscess which very quickly spread throughout the muscles on the right side of her face, and she had to be put to sleep (20/01/05).  She showed no sign of discomfort beforehand, the only visible sign was a small swelling which quickly grew over a matter of two days.  Surprisingly she never lost her appetite or changed her eating habits and was still keen on nose rubs right up to the end, I only hope this showed that she suffered little or no pain.  Had it been curable or controllable (with draining, flushing and antibiotics), she would have remained with us for the rest of her life, however once the vet had a proper look at it under anaesthetic, we discovered that the abscess had tracked to many places and it was kinder to let her go, she was put to sleep whilst still under anaesthetic.  We are devastated.

~* Binky free wee lass, you will be sorely missed, I'm so sorry you never found your forever home.

Take all our love to the spirit buns and go find Smokey, Daisy, Missy, Annie and Misty, they'll keep you right sweetheart ;-) *~
