LETTER
December 05 |
Well, we come to the end of the year with mixed feelings. From my perspective the year started in limbo as we were still negotiating to purchase the Intellectual Property Rights for the ‘Prodigy’ software. Although there was some degree of confidence we would succeed in achieving this, there is always a degree of uncertainty surrounding any negotiations, so we started the year with a degree of apprehension.
However, with the purchase of the Software in April 2005 we moved forward very rapidly to reinforce confidence in our Customer base which was in all honesty, disappearing following the upheavals of the last two years. This I believe we have done as is evident by the upsurge in interest in investing in new Hardware, requesting Software modifications, or the most important from our point of view , taking up Training opportunities to get the best out of the Software. Many Customers have found that the functionality they required from the Software was already contained in ‘Prodigy’. it was lack of knowledge of the system stopping that Information being presented. This was a failure on both our parts, a failure we have started to and will continue to rectify.
In July we installed the first new ‘Prodigy’ system of the new era at North Norfolk Potato Growers Ltd. We are also actively talking to 4 other potential customers who will be making decisions in the first quarter of next year with a healthy number deciding later in the year. These are all companies we would expect to add to our Customer base. These range from Fresh Produce customers (Marketing, Importers and Distributive Wholesalers) through to Civil Engineering Contractors.
On the development front the new Production Module which will be able to be used across the whole of our Customer base is significant. From Pack Houses to other Manufacturing processes, all will benefit from the traceability and integration with Radio based Mobile technology.
We have been pleased with the response to our recent letter we sent to our Customers regarding Escrow agreements. We feel they are a professional organisation offering protection both for our Customers and Optimise Systems Ltd in the future. To that end I am persuaded to extend the £1000 discount until end February 2006.
Although by nature, we at ‘Optimise’ are trying to introduce a note of caution regarding the Next Year, the omens are good and we are confident 2006 will be significant for us as our plans unfold. There will a lot of hard work and investment by the Directors. We are planning to increase our Staffing levels, if the above is successful, even down to serious discussion regarding a complimentary Business to add to the portfolio of services we can offer to our customers.
From all of us at ‘Optimise’ may we wish you Compliments of Season and may we all have a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
P.S. I hope some of you in the Fresh Produce Industry enjoyed the article in the Fresh Produce Journal (FPJ) magazine, in the week ending 16th December 2005. We were pleased with it and felt we were able to get over the points relevant to ourselves.
P.P.S. Like the Web Site? WWW.OSL.NET We will be updating it on a regular basis. Please do not be put off by the Pictures of some of the Directors which will be put on very soon!!
